Red, black, and gold-this work is inspired by the Native American pow wow. Every step in the dance is a movement that represents a language hidden from the outside world. The dancers, adorned in colorful and vibrant traditional garments, move to honor their culture. Each motion and beadwork pattern is a symbol of identity, history, and storytelling. This pow wow is a representation of resilience, community, and the living voice of a people whose traditions are carried through rhythm and motion.

I am drawn to traditions that honor heritage and storytelling. In collecting works like In Their Native Tongues, I seek to preserve and celebrate the cultural expressions that carry history forward-whether through dance, music, or ceremonial garments. This artwork is a testament to the enduring spirit of communities and the importance of understanding and respecting the languages and rituals that shape them.
